Terms
The terms you book under. Plain English, and the same rules we hold operators to.
Who you are contracting with
Skipwise Ltd, company number 17347771, is a waste broker registered with the Environment Agency under CBDU649374. We arrange skip hire; we do not carry waste ourselves. A licensed local operator delivers the skip, collects it and disposes of what is in it under their own carrier registration.
Your contract for the booking is with Skipwise Ltd. If anything goes wrong, you deal with us, not the operator.
Price and payment
Delivery, fourteen days' hire, collection and tipping are included in the price you are shown. Where a skip goes on a public road, the council permit is arranged by us and is already in that price.
Your card is authorised when you book, not charged. We take the payment when a local operator accepts the job. If no operator can cover your date, the authorisation is released and you pay nothing.
Hire period
Fourteen days from the day the skip is delivered. If you need it longer, contact us before your collection date and we will arrange it with the operator. Keeping a skip beyond the agreed period without arranging it may incur a charge.
Access and placement
A skip on your own driveway or land needs no permit. A skip on a public road does, and we arrange it. You are responsible for making sure the spot is clear, firm and level, and that a lorry can reach it.
If the operator arrives and cannot deliver — blocked access, no room, parked cars, overhead cables — that is a wasted journey and may be charged. We will always tell you before any charge is applied.
What can go in the skip
The load must sit level with the rim. An overloaded skip cannot legally be carried on the road and the driver will refuse it.
These cannot go in a skip:
- Plasterboard — it has to be kept separate.
- Fridges, freezers, televisions and monitors.
- Tyres, paint, oils, chemicals and gas bottles.
- Asbestos and batteries.
- Anything still plugged in.
Mattresses carry an extra charge in some areas. If a skip arrives at the transfer station containing something on this list, the cost of dealing with it is passed on. Ask us before the skip arrives if you are unsure — it is much easier than afterwards.
Changes and cancellation
Contact us and we will sort it. If the operator has already loaded the skip for delivery there may be a charge, which we will always tell you about before it is applied.
Your duty of care
Under the duty of care, the person who produced the waste has to be able to show where it went. Every booking generates a Waste Transfer Note automatically and we keep it for two years, so you have that record without having to ask anyone for it.
Complaints and contact
